Stayed Loyal: Dan Fouts
Dan Fouts simply never gets the credit he deserves, both because he played for one of the NFL’s sleepiest markets (San Diego), but also because he never played in the Super Bowl. But as the Chargers’ quarterback in early 1970’s through late 1980’s, Fouts was one of the most prolific passers the NFL ever had, leading the league in passing yards four-straight seasons.
To this day, Fouts is one of only 10 quarterbacks to have back-to-back seasons with 30 touchdown passes. But again, since Fouts started and ended his career playing in San Diego, he gets overlooked in conversations for the greatest quarterbacks ever.
