Freak: Cam Newton
He might not always throw the most accurate pass. He might not always say the right thing in press conferences. He might not make the most appropriate choices in post-game attire. But Cam Newton is one of the most freakish athletes we’ve seen at the quarterback position in the history of the NFL.
At 6’5 and 245lbs, Newton is the size of a middle linebacker, but ran the 40-yard dash in 4.61 seconds coming out of school, and is unquestionably among the top five quarterbacks in the NFL in pure arm strength. Many people around the league believe that Newton tends to suffer injuries because of the fact that tacklers have to resort to many extra violent — if not questionable — hits, because he’s too big and strong to bring down with a normal tackling attempt. Where Newton ends up playing football in 2020 is one of the most intriguing offseason headlines in the league.
