You know that saying about “being in the wrong place at the wrong time?” That basically describes what happened to Kerry Collins, as far as his performance in Super Bowl XXXV. One week after throwing five touchdown passes to defeat the Minnesota Vikings in the NFC championship game, the history-in-the-making Baltimore Ravens’ defense held Collins to 112 yards passing and four interceptions on 15-39 passing (Collins was also sacked four times). One of Collins’ four interceptions was returned for a touchdown by Ravens’ cornerback Duane Starks, so Collins actually ended up delivering as many points to the Ravens as he did to his own team (the Giants lost the game by a 34-7 score).
