Michael Turner
Michael Turner was overlooked and underestimated by NFL teams for the exact opposite reason of other players on this list: they thought he was too big. At 5’10 and 247lbs, NFL teams thought he was too big to be an NFL running back, even though he was a 100-meter dash champion in high school, and finished second in the nation with 1,915 yards as a junior at Northern Illinois University. The San Diego Chargers took Turner with the 154th pick (5th round) of the 2004 NFL Draft, as a backup to future Hall of Fame running back LaDainian Tomlinson. But Turner’s real breakout came when he signed with the Atlanta Falcons as a free agent in 2008. Turner ran for over 1300 yards in three of his five seasons in Atlanta, and was named to the Pro Bowl twice.
