T4) Boston Red Sox, 8
Like their rival in New York, the Boston Red Sox are considered one of the most loved, and hated, franchises in Major League Baseball. The Red Sox were a powerhouse in their early years, winning 5 World Series titles in the early 1900’s. But a ridiculous trade by owner Harry Frazee sent the team’s best player to the Yankees, in exchange for cash to fund one of Frazee’s Broadway plays. The player’s name was Babe Ruth. Not sure if you’ve ever heard of him — apparently he was really good..
In 2004, after 85 painful years, the Red Sox finally rid themselves of the Curse of the Bambino. Their 4-game sweep of the St. Louis Cardinals broke one of the longest title droughts in all of professional sports. Since then, the Sox have added two more titles to their resume. With some of the craziest fans in all of baseball, there is never a dull moment in Beantown.
