Ralph Sampson – Virginia (1979-1983)
Ralph Sampson was a battering ram in the low post for Virginia. He won Player of the Year awards in three consecutive seasons and three consensus All-American selections. By his senior season, Sampson averaged 19.0 ppg and 11.7 rebounds. In his final season in 1983, Sampson lead the Cavaliers to the Elite Eight.
It was just a year removed from Virginia playing in the Final Four, and two years after Sampson led the team to the NIT Title (back when that meant something). G: 132 Pts: 16.9 Reb: 11.4
