Larry Johnson and Alonzo Mourning were supposed to be the cornerstones of what could have been one of the most exciting young teams in the 1990’s. Johnson and Mourning were taken high up in the lottery by the Charlotte Hornets in 1991 and 1992. But the two players both believed themselves to be the “alpha dog” of the Hornets, leading to a testy relationship between each other. That was exacerbated when the team signed Johnson to an $84 million deal, but balked at the idea of giving Mourning that type of money. The feud came to a head when both players had left Charlotte. When Johnson was with the New York Knicks and Mourning was with the Miami Heat, the two teams shared went through epic battles with each other.
