Of all the incredible plays that John Elway was responsible for, over his illustrious 17 year career, many people believe that “The Helicopter” from Super Bowl XXXII might’ve been the signature moment of his career. As part of a 13-play, 92-yard drive that gave the Denver Broncos a 24-17 lead over the Green Bay Packers in the second half, on a third down play, Elway scrambled for an 8-yard run and dove for the first down, but was hit so hard by Packers defenders LeRoy Butler and Mike Prior that he spun sideways through the air (like a helicopter). Elway picked up the first down, the Broncos scored a touchdown, and Denver ended up winning the Super Bowl. It was Elway’s first Super Bowl win in five attempts.
