Some fans of the Tampa Bay Buccaneers believe that fullback Mike Alstott was quite possibly the most consistent, and toughest back in the history of the franchise. When he first came in the league, he and running back Warrick Dunn combined to form the tandem nicknamed “WD-40” (Dunn’s initials and Alstott’s jersey number). After Dunn left the team via free agency, Alstott played as a change-of-pace back for the Buccaneers, and averaged a career-low (at the time) 3.8 yards per carry during the season in which Tampa Bay would go on to win the Super Bowl. He had 146 carries that year, but wouldn’t have more than 70 carries over his remaining four years in the league.
