The “Dirty Bird” himself, Jamal Anderson was the unsung engine which powered the Atlanta Falcons to a Super Bowl appearance after the 1998 season, in which he rushed for a league-high 1,846 yards and 14 touchdowns. But after tearing his ACL in the subsequent season, Anderson was never again the same guy. Sure, he ran for 1,024 yards in his first full season back in 2000, but he didn’t resemble the guy we saw in 1998 in any real capacity. The advanced analytics indicate that he was the worst running back in the NFL in 2000, among all runners with at least 100 carries that year.
