Here’s another fact to depress fans of the New York Giants (as if the 2017 NFL season wasn’t depressing enough for them): the team hasn’t had a running back rush for more than 1,000 yards in a season since 2012. For a couple of years, the team tried to make Rashad Jennings its feature back, but that was akin to the proverbial jamming a square peg in a round hole. In 2016, which would be Jennings last season in the NFL, he averaged only 3.3 yards per carry on his 181 rushing attempts in 13 games, and finished with his third straight season of scoring only four total touchdowns.
