2014: Trent Richardson, Indianapolis Colts

It’s amazing to look back at Trent Richardson, and think about how everyone thought he was a sure-fire franchise running back. He wasn’t really that fast, he didn’t really have the strength to bulldoze opposing defenders, and he didn’t have the feet to make lateral moves. And most of all, he had absolutely zero vision as a runner. There’s a reason why the Cleveland Browns, after making him the 3rd overall pick in the 2012 NFL Draft, were ready to trade him away after only two seasons. But the incompetent front office of the Indianapolis Colts quickly saw what the Browns knew all along. In 2014, which would be Richardson’s last year in the NFL, he ran for only 519 yards and three touchdowns. He’s never played in an NFL game since that year.
