Running back Steve Slaton was an exciting but somewhat unheralded third-round selection in the 2008 NFL Draft by the Houston Texans. But as a rookie, Slaton exploded for 1,282 rushing yards and nine touchdowns, good for sixth in the NFL and tops among all other rookies (in a draft that saw five running backs taken in the first round). But the following year (in 2009), Slaton didn’t come close to resembling the same guy from his sensational rookie year. Not only did he finish with a meager 437 yards rushing and three touchdowns (with an uninspired 3.3 yards per carry), but he fumbled the football seven times that year, leading to him being demoted towards the end of the season.
