2010: Wesley Johnson
Wesley Johnson might be one of the players that NBA scouts will point back to, in terms of the risk you take on guys who have played four years of college; namely, they’ve maximized all their talent, and won’t really further develop in the NBA. The Minnesota Timberwolves used the fourth overall pick in the 2010 NBA Draft on Johnson, who played at Iowa State University and then Syracuse University. In doing so, the Timberwolves ended up passing on center Demarcus Cousins (the 5th overall pick), as well as forwards Gordon Hayward (the 9th overall pick) and Paul George (the 10th overall pick). Johnson is currently a member of the Los Angeles Clippers, his 4th NBA franchise in 8 years.
