Marcus Fizer, Bulls (2000)
Marcus Fizer’s start to his NBA career is marred by being in the wrong place at the wrong time, and that fact submarined any real chance he had in the future. For one, he was a lottery selection (#4 overall) in perhaps the worst NBA Draft in the history of the league; of all the 29 players taken in the first round, they combined for a total of only two All Star game appearances. Even when he was drafted, he was dogged with the stigma of being “trade bait,” considering the Chicago Bulls drafted him despite already having a cornerstone power forward in place (Elton Brand, whom they drafted the year before). Many people believe that then head coach Tim Floyd, who recruited Fizer to Iowa State to play under him, was responsible for making the pick. Fizer was never traded, and his career was critically derailed in 2004 after he tore his ACL.
