Showtime! The Lakers’ big 3 were together for six seasons and appeared in five NBA Finals. Although the team lost three of those series, the Lakers still lifted three NBA championship trophies with Magic Johnson, Kareem Abdul-Jabbar and James Worthy as their leading trio. Between 1984-1988, all three won an NBA Finals MVP award. The ability for each to accomplish the feat shows just how strong they were; and how important they were to the Lakers. Johnson also won the league’s MVP award in 1987 and in 1989. He may have been the conductor of Showtime, but the other three had their parts to play. Once Abdul-Jabbar retired, Johnson and Worthy weren’t able to take the team to the same heights.
