The Maryland Terrapins won the 2002 NCAA Championship behind the strengths of guard Juan Dixon. The 2002 season saw Dixon average 20.4 ppg and 4.6 rebounds. Throughout the NCAA Tournament, Dixon was stellar as the Terrapins outclassed their rivals. Dixon’s individual performances during the tournament led him to be the only player to achieve 2,000 points, 300 steals, and 200 three-point field goals in his collegiate career. By the end of the 2002 basketball season, Dixon would not only be a National Champion, but he would be the tournament’s Most Outstanding Player and the ACC Athlete of the Year.
