As a freshman at Syracuse University in 2002, Gerry McNamara teamed up with Carmelo Anthony to help the school win its first-ever National Championship in 2003. He started every game for the Orangemen as a freshman, and played a huge role in several of Syracuse’s wins in the 2003 NCAA Tournament.

Even though Anthony left after that National Championship run, McNamara remained in Syracuse for the next three seasons, starting every game for the team during his college career. After college, he briefly played overseas for a few seasons, before returning to Syracuse as a graduate assistant coach. He is currently an assistant coach for the team.
