Here’s a secret: no team in the NBA wants to lay a hard foul on Russell Westbrook of the Oklahoma City Thunder, because they fear the potential retribution from teammate Steven Adams. Adams is well-known for setting some of the most lethal picks in the NBA; when a sets a pick for someone, there are only two hits: the defender hits him, and the defender then hits the ground. During pre-game warmups, when other players are shooting the basketball, Adams’ trainer puts him through a drill called “the bull rush”, which basically looks like Adams pushing around the trainer like an offensive lineman drive-blocking a defender up and down the court.
