When the Phoenix Suns drafted “Thunder” Dan Majerle with the 14th pick the 1988 NBA Draft, the team’s fans lustily booed the selection, then head coach Cotton Fitzsimmons to tell them: “you’ll be sorry you ever booed this young man.”Majerle was named to three All-Star teams and two NBA All-Defensive teams (second team).

After retiring from playing in 2002,Majerle briefly worked as a broadcaster and analyst for TNT and ESPN. He went on to become an associate head coach for the Suns from 2008–2013, and is now the current head coach of the Grand Canyon University Antelopes.
