From the moment he came from just outside of our nation’s capital to the University of Texas, everyone realized that Kevin Durant was simply a special basketball player. His pure scoring ability and athletic grace, for a man that’s basically seven feet tall, was virtually unprecedented. In his one and only year playing for the Longhorns under head coach Rick Barnes, Durant was named the national player of the year as a freshman. It wasn’t long after he arrived in the NBA that he quickly became one of the best professional basketball players in the world, winning the NBA MVP award in 2014, and his first NBA championship in 2017.
