After helping his team win the National Championship as a freshman at Ohio State University in 2002, running back Maurice Clarett famously tried to challenge the NFL’s draft eligibility rules requiring a player to be three years removed from high school. As we all know, he lost that challenge. When he returned to Columbus the following year, he filed a false claim that more than $10,000 in clothing, CDs, cash and stereo equipment were stolen from a car he borrowed from a local dealership. Once it was determined that this claim was false, and that he had also been receiving special benefits elsewhere, the Buckeyes kicked Clarett off the football team.
