In the closing moments of the University of Oregon Ducks losing to the Boise State University Broncos in 2009, Ducks running back LeGarette Blount — who was held to a total of -5 rushing yards in the game — was walking off the field, when a Boise State defensive lineman Byron Hout began taunting Blount for comments that Blount had made about Boise State during the prior season. In response, Blount punched Hout right on the chin, knocking Hout to the ground. Following the incident, Oregon head coach Chip Kelly suspended Blount for the rest of the 2009 season, which ended up being Blount’s final season in Eugene.
