Adrian Peterson, Arizona Cardinals
With the 7th pick in the 2007 NFL draft, the Minnesota Vikings selected Oklahoma running back Adrian Peterson. “All Day” easily ranks as one of the best running backs in NFL history. After all, it takes a truly great talent to rush for 2,097 yards in a single season, especially when Christian Ponder is your quarterback and defenses are routinely stacking the box to stop the run. Peterson won the MVP in a landslide, and finished just 9 yards shy of Eric Dickerson’s single season all-time record. With just 36 more rushing yards, Peterson can pass the trio of Faulk/Brown/Dorsett and move into the 8th spot on the all-time rushing list. If not for two lost seasons, 2014 due to child abuse allegations, and 2016 due to injuries, Peterson would rank top 5 in every major rushing category.
