After one playful exchange on Twitter, Matt Bonner’s NBA life would change for good. After tweeting a comment at Kobe Bryant after Bryant’s 81-point performance, Bryant — somewhat sarcastically — gave Bonner the nickname “The Red Mamba.” It was ironic, of course, since Bonner was nothing more than a career role (aka bench) player, after averaging less than six points per game over the course of his career. But as the saying goes: sometimes it’s better to be lucky than good. Bonner was a part of two different San Antonio Spurs teams that won a NBA title: in 2006-2007, and then again in 2013-2014. If you’re counting, that means Matt Bonner has more championship rings than someone like Kevin Garnett.
