Whenever Adrian Peterson decides to hang them up for good, he’s an unquestioned first ballot Hall of Fame selection. By the end of the 2017 NFL season, it’s almost a lock that he’ll move up into the top 10 running backs of all time, into the conversation with the great Jim Brown. But given the way that NFL teams view running backs in today’s NFL, Peterson no longer carries the same value that he did during his heyday in Minnesota. The Vikings parted ways with Peterson after the 2016 NFL season, in which he played in only three games. After signing with the New Orleans Saints in the offseason, the Saints thought so little of Peterson that they traded him after only a few games.
