Matt Forte, Running Back, New York Jets
Running Back Matt Forte went from a relatively unknown player coming out of Tulane University in the 2008 NFL Draft, to the second-leading rusher in the storied history of the Chicago Bears. In fact, the only player in Bears history who has more rushing yards than Forte is the legendary Walter Payton. Forte was named to the Pro Bowl twice while in Chicago, but was always well-regarded as one of the best dual-threat running backs in the NFL. At 6’3 and 218lbs, he was an effortless runner, but also a darn good pass catcher out of the backfield. But the new regime in Chicago’s front office, led by General Manager Ryan Pace, chose not to retain Forte when he became a free agent. Forte signed with the New York Jets prior to the 2016 season, and had only 813 yards rushing last year, which was the lowest total of his career.
