If you weren’t a college football fan in the 80’s, you’re probably thinking, “who the hell is Brian Bosworth?” And based on his disappointing NFL career, you’d have every right not to know “The Boz.” But for those who watched college football in the 80’s you know just how electric (and polarizing) Bosworth was. The flamboyant sideshow sometimes hid the substance: Brian Bosworth was one of the best linebackers in Oklahoma history. A two-time winner of the Butkus Award, Bosworth was a devastating defender. He led OU in tackles in each of his three seasons — tallying 133, 144 and 136 tackles. He helped lead the Sooners to the national championship in 1985 and was even an academic All-American in ’86.
