The fourth overall pick in the 1978 NBA Draft, Michael Ray Richardson was considered by some to be “the next Walt Frazier.” The New York Knicks selected Richardson two picks before the Boston Celtics took a young man named Larry Bird. Richardson did make the All-Star game four times and was named to the NBA’s All-Defensive First Team twice, but he was eventually banned for life from the NBA by former commissioner David Stern for repeated violations of the league policy.
