Ron Artest (Metta World Peace)
The former Ron Artest was one of the most feared defenders in the NBA, and considered one of the centerpieces of the great Indiana Pacers teams in the early-to-mid 2000’s, winning the NBA’s defensive player of the year in 2004. But his career will forever be linked to the Pacers-Pistons brawl in November of 1994, after which Artest was suspended for the remainder of the 1994-1995 season. In 2007, as a member of the Sacramento Kings, Artest was arrested for domestic violence, and excused from the team indefinitely. Although Artest had a long NBA career, he even won a championship with the Lakers, there’s no doubt his actions on the court impacted how good he could have been if he were a more level headed person/player. In the case of Artest it’s more about ruining his legacy and potential, than actually ruining his entire career.
