Bobby Hurley
There are so many different accomplishments that Bobby Hurley can point to, during his playing days. He was a McDonald’s All-American coming out of high school, leading his school to the #1 overall national ranking. He won back-to-back National Championships with the Duke Blue Devils in 1991 and 1992. He was a member of the college select team that famously defeated the legendary “Dream Team” in a scrimmage before the 1992 Summer Olympics. He was named a first-team All-American in 1993.
But after suffering life-threatening injuries as a result of a car accident during his rookie season in the NBA, Hurley could never capture that success as a professional. But as a coach, he seems to have picked up right where he left off. He led the University of Buffalo Bulls to their first NCAA Tournament appearance in 2015, and currently coaches at Arizona State University.
