The NBA’s long-time mantra of “build your team around big men” is the reason why Michael Jordan was passed over for Sam Bowie, and Kevin Durant was passed over for Greg Oden. Another one of the more egregious instances of this includes the Golden State Warriors taking Todd Fuller with the 11th overall pick in the 1996 NBA Draft. The 6-foot-11 Fuller was out of the NBA after six seasons. Meanwhile, three of the four players taken immediately after Fuller were Kobe Bryant, Peja Stojaković, and Steve Nash.
