6. Lamarcus Aldridge signs with the San Antonio Spurs (2015)
The all-time scoring leader in Portland Trailblazers history grew tired of early playoff exits, and felt that he was being given less prominence in the team’s off-the-court marketing efforts. According to sources, Aldridge believed the team favored point-guard Damian Lillard. That led to Aldridge entertaining free agent meetings with a variety of suitors, and him ultimately deciding to sign a four-year, $80 million contract with the San Antonio Spurs. Alongside emerging superstar Kawhi Leonard, Aldridge helped guide the Spurs to 67 wins in the 2015-2016 season, the sixth highest regular season win total in NBA history. Fortunately for the folks back in Portland, Lillard and company were able to scrape together 44 regular season wins and a hard-fought battle against the Warriors in the second round of the playoffs. Even without Aldridge, the future looks bright in Portland.
