Mark Rypien might’ve been named to the Pro Bowl and All-Pro (second) team in 1991 after guiding the Washington Redskins to a 14-2 record and Super Bowl XXVI victory. But, it’s a legitimate question as to whether Rypien’s performance that year was just a function of being the quarterback of what many consider to be one of the greatest teams of all time. Prior to 1991, fans of the Redskins, along with many members of the organization, wondered if Rypien was good enough to help the team truly reach its full potential.

After winning the Super Bowl, Rypien played two more seasons in Washington that were mostly remembered for the injuries he endured. After leaving Washington, he played five more seasons in the NFL as a backup.
